About Home Counties

When city life becomes a series of overpriced pints, dodgy landlords, and uninspiring nights out, the only logical response is fun—and that’s exactly what Home Counties deliver on their debut album Exactly As It Seems. With a newly-purchased synthesiser and a steady diet of early 2000s pop, the band has crafted an album brimming with infectious melodies and buoyant energy.

Produced entirely by the band’s guitarist Conor Kearney and mixed by Andy Savours (Black Country New Road, Róisín Murphy, The Kills), the album captures the raw, rapturous energy of their live performances. Tracks like You Break It, You Bought It reflect on renting woes and dodgy landlords, while Uptight explores the existential angst of turning 25 and not wanting to go clubbing anymore. With influences from Gang of Four and Devo, the result is a fizzing display of art-rock and indie-disco that’s equal parts joyful and reflective.

With their knack for combining relatable themes of modern living with hook-filled, grin-inducing melodies, Home Counties create music that’s riddled with joy rather than despair—a celebration of life’s ups and downs, told through big, infectious tunes.
