Start off the 2025 Calderdale Industrial Museum Association (CIMA) Wednesday Talks Series with a fascinating lecture on Halifax Diamonds, delivered by Bryan Harkness. Back by popular demand, this was the first-ever CIMA talk and returns due to its intriguing content and popularity.

About the Talk

During World War II, Halifax played a unique role in the cutting and polishing of precious stone diamonds. Much of this work was shrouded in secrecy under the Official Secrets Act, making this a rarely discussed chapter of Halifax’s industrial history. Bryan Harkness will uncover this little-known story, providing insights into how the mechanization of diamond processing was achieved during wartime.

This is an excellent opportunity for history enthusiasts and anyone curious about Halifax’s industrial heritage to learn about a hidden piece of local history.
