Roar & Explore: Dinosaurs Are Taking Over Halifax This Summer
This summer, Halifax town centre is set for a roarsome transformation – and you’re invited to join the adventure!
From 22 July to 1 September, Discover Halifax is bringing dinosaurs, creativity, and family-friendly fun to the heart of town as part of the Halifax Dino Takeover.
Whether you’re a local looking for ways to entertain the kids, or a visitor exploring our historic town, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Halifax Dino Trail: Roar & Explore!
22 July – 1 September
Follow the footprints across Halifax and piece together the name of a mysterious new dinosaur who’s appeared in town!
Families can pick up a free trail sheet from the Discover Halifax Hub or participating locations across the town centre and begin their quest. With 12 dinosaur stops to find, each revealing a hidden letter, you’ll need to collect them all to solve the puzzle.
Every completed trail earns a prize – and you’ll be entered into a draw to win a £50 Halifax Gift Card if you complete the Feedback Form!
Free Dino Events: Halifax Dino Takeover Days
As part of the Halifax Dino Takeover, we’re also supporting a series of free dinosaur-themed events across the town centre:
- Saturday 2 August – Baby Dinos at Westgate Arcade: Meet the adorable baby dinosaurs in this interactive morning experience.
- Monday 18 August – Dino Day at Eureka!: A full day of themed activities inside and outside the museum – no booking needed.
- Saturday 30 August – Baby Dinos at Halifax Borough Market: Join the fun in Albany Arcade with walkabout dinos and photo opportunities.
Also Happening: Dino Mania at Woolshops
Fridays, 1–22 August
Our friends at Woolshops Shopping Centre are also getting into the dino spirit with their own Dino Mania series – four weeks of free family fun, from crafts and dancing to fossil finding and story time.
