Event Match-Funding Applications Now Open!

Discover Halifax is excited to launch the Event Match-Funding Scheme, designed to help levy-paying businesses create exciting, collaborative events that bring more visitors into the town centre.

If you’re a local business looking to boost footfall, engage new customers, and make Halifax a more vibrant place to visit, this funding could help bring your ideas to life.

What is the Event Match-Funding Scheme?

The scheme provides financial support to levy-paying businesses that want to host public events that benefit the wider town centre. Events should:

  • Be open to the public and attract a wide audience
  • Support multiple businesses through collaboration
  • Increase footfall and enhance Halifax’s reputation as a great place to visit
  • Align with BID’s objectives to make the town centre a lively, welcoming destination

Successful applicants can receive up to £1,000 in match funding, with 50% provided in advance to help with setup costs.

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to levy-paying businesses within the Halifax BID area that are:

  • Up to date with their levy payments
  • Willing to collaborate with other businesses or groups
  • Organising events that support the wider town centre

What Kind of Events Are Eligible?

Applications run in cycles and this first cycle is for events taking place in April 2025  – June 2025.

Examples of events that could receive funding include:

  • Themed shopping events (e.g., late-night shopping, seasonal markets)
  • Cultural activities (e.g., street performances, art trails, workshops)
  • Community festivals involving multiple businesses
  • Promotions that encourage cross-business collaboration, such as loyalty schemes

How to Apply

Applying is simple:

  1. Prepare your application – Provide event details, target audience, budget, and expected outcomes.
  2. Submit your application – All applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Deliver your event – Approved events must take place in the Halifax BID area within the specified timeframe.
  4. Receive funding – Provide invoices, photos, and a short impact report to claim the remaining funding.
